What is Constipation?

Constipation is a condition where you have difficulty in passing stools or have infrequent bowel movements, you might also experience pain or straining while passing stool.

Various factors like poor diet, lack of fibre intake, dehydration or certain medications can stress the colon’s muscles. Since the colon’s primary function is to absorb water from residual food and push it out of the rectum, difficulty in passing stool and its retention can cause discomfort.

Ayurvedic

Ayurveda’s answer to constipation

Constipation is described as the inability to empty the intestines. According to Ayurveda, an imbalance of vata dosha causes constipation. Vata dosha governs the movements related to the nervous system and muscular movement. It regulates the peristaltic movements that eliminate waste particles from the body. It also controls the absorption and assimilation of nutrients. Vata vitiation can cause dryness in the colon, weaken peristaltic movement and impact the overall nervous system health. The chilly, dry, harsh features of vata dosha can cause lumpy dry stool, which becomes difficult to pass. Understanding constipation and gut health from the lens of Ayurveda allows us to adopt a holistic approach towards overall wellness. Mal Mukti uses ingredients that help in restoring the imbalanced doshas and remove built-up waste with the help of herbs.
